6 month doctor's appointment

simon played with his bug and looked at himself while he waited for dr. knapp. stats: height - 26 inches (50%), weight - 20 lbs. 6 ounces (90%). growing, growing is he!

because we don't just do one thing at a time

when we got to san antonio on sunday, the belts broke on the wrx when eric was driving through the parking garage - this is after a hit and run accident the weekend before. we spent monday morning researching options for a new car, went to the courthouse and finalized simon's adoption, and then went to the subaru dealrship to pick up a forrester.

prior to meeting the judge, we chatted with the father and daughter in front of us - we tried to convince them to be part of our entourage. simon was adorable in an outfit he borrowed from his friend fletcher.

historic bexar county courthouse is beautiful - right down the street from the riverwalk.

simon charmed all during our court visit, then immediately fell asleep. it's exhausting being charming that long.

mcnay sculpture garden san antonio

our adoption agency works with the bexar county court for adoption finalizations, so we traveled to san antonio a day early to enjoy the city - the mcnay museum had an edward gorey exhibit and a large number of tom slick's art collection on exhibit. gorey is right - his art is gorey and great. we showed simon the yard art first - he wasn't so impressed, but he will be once he's old enough to run around, under and through the art. after the museum we cruised through southtown - a beautiful neighborhood just south of downtown, then we headed over to the hotel valencia to check in for the night. soon after eric left to park the car I got a call - the power steering belt broke. we experienced "an avalanche of circumstances" (as eric put it) with the wrx in the five months prior - cracked windshield, hail damage, hit and run car wreck that resulted in a smashed front fender...this last incident made us think twice the longevity of our blue speedster. we came home with simon drescher hepburn and a new subaru forrester.

week 26 - 6 months old!

fletcher gives simon advice on teething, crawling and eating solid foods, and simon takes it all in.

and later that day we document simon's growth spurt. in six days we have our 6th month visit - how big will the growth chart say he has gotten?
