the fossil rim wildlife center - just south of glen rose - is amazing. it is a 1700 acre wild animal conservation park. simon had the opportunity to sit in the passenger seat to get the best view; he ended up gazing longingly at... himself.
we were attacked by an ostrich through the sunroof - eric's aunt barbara couldn't stop laughing (and screaming for the sunroof to be shut).
barbary pirates also tried to attack us, I mean barbary sheep.
a young blackbuck was not interested in us at all.
the emu was a little mangy and kind of gave me the creeps.
we really don't remember what kind of deer we captured with our camera, but included them anyway.
scimitar-horned oryx, enough said.
ma and pa zebra try to protect baby from our menacing yukon.
eric's dad - dennis - visited from florida and we took a road trip to keller, which is north of fort worth. (in back row: kara holding lauren, dennis and in front of dennis is lindsey. aunt barbara took the photo)
we are like a wild west family - bath once a week, in a trough with shared water. are we green or just gross? we learned a valuable lesson last week - don't fill the tub too much because simon likes to splash. no wood floor protection needed this sunday.
we try to remember on sunday to take a photo before simon decides it is time for bed...when bed time comes the smiles disappear and he does not look his best. eric ran for the camera to document sunday, july 19, right before pj's, books, and songs.
simon knew we would "pass" the last home visit, so he decided to go ahead and take a nap while dad and mom chatted with rory. it is hard for eric and i to remember back 5 months ago when simon was not yet in our lives - he's been such a joy.
